This week’s snippet comes from my book Buried Secrets. Mary and Jace are alone. Years of being separated are coming to a head. She doesn’t want to give in and is fighting.
Jace cupped her head and leaned in, but stopped mere inches away from her lips. Her body ached for this kiss and she wanted it more than she ever thought possible. She shouldn’t want his lips against hers and yet she couldn’t fight the pull anymore. Time seemed to stand still for a moment as they stared into one another’s eyes. He stripped her of all her insecurities in the one glance. Her breath grew ragged.
Tingles rushed up and down her spine and she fought against the urge to tremble in his arms. Slowly, ever so slowly he leaned in until his lips barely brushed against hers. If she hadn’t been looking at him she’d never have known they touched. She sighed as he dropped a soft kiss once again and then like a switch being flipped on he took possession of her mouth
A message from her dead husband turns Mary Cox’s life upside down. Someone wants to kill her and her daughter, Faith. They’ll stop at nothing to track her down. The only man she trusts is her best friend’s brother Jace, except, he lied to her before. Will secrets from her past destroy the life she’s made for herself or bring them closer together?
Just as Jace Smith begins to adjust to civilian life, a cry of help from the only woman he’s ever cared for sends him back into the heat of battle. The type where someone—may not come out alive in the end. Secrets are revealed and nothing will ever be the same again. He’d do anything to keep Mary and her daughter safe from the danger after them. But a secret from his past threatens everything. Can they ever get back what they once had or die trying?
